Training and Resources for Indigenous Community Linguists (TRICL)
TRICL is a week-long training workshop for community member researchers held annually (usually in mid-January) in Arunachal Pradesh, India.
Our always-evolving curriculum trains participants in basic language and culture documentation and related software and equipment, including file management, audio-visual recording, recording metadata, various types of annotation (transcription and translation), archiving and lexicon-building, among other topics. In addition to CCLD-EH staff, TRICL trainers include international, national and local resource persons who contribute expertise on a range of topics and methods, from orthography design to open-source mapping to botanical sampling and species identification.
Any sincere and committed member of an Eastern Himalayan Indigenous language community is welcome to apply to join aTRICL, regardless of age, gender, institutional affiliation, or academic background.
TRICL gratefully acknowledges ongoing support from the Firebird Foundation for Anthropological Research.
